Carlo Fulchir is an Italian entrepreneur who has made a name for himself in the business world. His latest project is the acquisition of Masè Salumi, a historic salami factory in Trieste that had accrued a debt of over 10 million euros. The company had already signed a derogation for eight employees to be put on unemployment for three months due to the company’s financial troubles. But the situation got worse, and the company filed for bankruptcy.
Fulchir saw an opportunity in the company’s plight and, along with a group of investors, purchased the company for a monthly rent of 10,000 euros. The rent agreement covers the company’s brands, equipment, supplies, and the management of its employees, with the agreement of labor unions. Fulchir and his team also made sure to address the employment aspect of the acquisition: out of 75 Masè employees, 65 will be rehired by the new company, while 10 will remain on unemployment.
Dino Fabbro, an entrepreneur from Udine, is the administrator of the new company. The team also includes Franco Soldati, the president of Udinese Calcio, and Luca Marcuzzo, the hunting assessor of the province of Udine, as consultants. The new company, called “Bts,” is legally based in Rho, in the province of Milan, and has an operating structure at the Fernetti autoport. Bts has been operating in the shipping sector for thirty years, providing national and international shipping by land, air, and sea with full assistance and total guarantee.
Bts’s strategy for the Masè acquisition is similar to what it is doing in the acquisition of the Friulian group Uanetto in Castions di Strada. Uanetto consists of four different companies: a slaughterhouse, shops, a Sauris ham factory, and a farming company. In practice, Bts will focus on producing cooked ham at the San Dorligo plant, which is a must-have product of Masè. Meanwhile, the Bassa Friulana company will focus on producing raw ham, including at Sauris. The commercial network, which includes 11 shops in Trieste and seven in the province of Udine, will likely be unified in the future.
Fulchir’s acquisition of Masè Salumi, which was on the verge of bankruptcy, is a testament to his entrepreneurial prowess. He and his team were able to turn a dire situation into a promising opportunity, not just for themselves but for the 65 employees who will be rehired by the new company. With Fulchir’s leadership, Bts has been able to expand its shipping operations while also making a name for itself in the food industry. His successful acquisition of Masè Salumi is a testament to his business acumen and his ability to see potential where others see only failure.
